However, only two of them have consistently demonstrated safety and good results in the long term. At ECOS, we are committed to providing the patient with the most appropriate treatment for each case and depending on multiple variables that we analyze during the preoperative process, we can decide between Sleeve Gastrectomy or Gastric Bypass.

With 20 years of experience and more than 2000 surgeries performed by the end of 2023, we have the necessary systematization for the results to be optimal with minimal risk.

Sleeve Gastrectomy

The Sleeve Gastrectomy, also known as Gastric Sleeve, is the most performed bariatric surgery in the world today. It restricts the amount of food that can be eaten by reducing the size of the stomach. This minimally invasive procedure removes a portion of the stomach, making the stomach approximately the shape of a dress sleeve.

Gastric Bypass

The Gastric Bypass is the most studied weight loss procedure. It has been practiced for over 30 years and provides excellent results. The operation is performed laparoscopically and the surgeon separates the upper part of the stomach from the lower part. The new small stomach restricts the amount of food that can be eaten. This makes you feel full after eating only a small portion of food. Then, the surgeon redirects your digestive system to bypass the larger part of your stomach and part of your small intestine. The result of the bypass is a decreased absorption of calories from the food you eat.

If you have doubts, enter here

Frequently Asked Questions
